An interesting find

My brother James has found this marvellous book amidst some family memorabilia that has come to light. It’s called “Discoveries and Inventions of the Nineteenth Century” and was a prize awarded to our grandfather J.L.T.Isbi in 1884 when he would have been 15yo. It was only 2nd prize but he went on to an illustrious medical career so it must have been the stimulus to lifting his academic performance!
It’s in very good condition and beautifully illustrated with meticulously drawn sketches. An example is in the extra. (This is the Clifton Suspension Bridge at Niagara - Brunel’s masterpiece Clifton Bridge at Bristol is more impressive!)
It looks to contain some fascinating reading if I can get it away from my brother!
