An interesting life!

John was our speaker at Rotary tonight. He’s now 82 but he’s been a true MasterChef, owning multiple restaurants over the years and, in his “retirement”, the head of the Blue Mountains catering school. He’s also been a friend and veterinary client of mine for over 30 years.
But that’s not what he was speaking about! In 1964 as a 23yo, he spent 6 months with an Australian Antarctic expedition not just as the cook but also chief dog handler and (wait for it)… anaesthetist! He’d had no experience for the last 2 jobs but had a 2 week crash course before leaving and like all the others, had his appendix removed.
His stories were riveting but mostly unsuitable for Blipfoto.
