Bridge 193a - Trent & Mersey

Out with the walking group today on a walk around Marbury Park.

This is Marbury Woods footbridge which I'm calling bridge 193a although it is unnumbered and relatively new.

Back in June I blipped bridge 193 at Marston  and mentioned that there appeared to be no numbered bridges between that one and bridge 196 which you can see in the distance. The footbridge falls between the two.

Looking at an online  map from 1898 I can see that there was there were indeed two bridges but no footbridge. One of them linked Marston Hall Mine with Marston Hall and the other seemed to be a footpath link between Great Budworth and Northwich and Marston. I would say these would have been bridges 194 and 195. Prior to this, on the 1846 map, there was no mine and consequently no bridge although the other bridge was evident.

Im not sure when this footbridge was built but it doesn't appear on the 1973 aerial photograph.
