Good Neighbours

The house to the South of ‘The Policies’ is called Roseberry Cottage and was the home of The Beadle or Church Officer.

With the closure of Forgan Parish Church there was no need for The Beadle and both properties were put up for sale.

The first owner of Roseberry Cottage planted a Leylandii Hedge  and just let it grow to a height of some 6 metres.

Alan F, the second owner has determined that the hedge should be removed and he has attacked with great enthusiasm allowing the afternoon sun to reach his house and garden for the first time in decades.

Today’s Blipfoto shows the cottage windows and also our stone wall; a listed structure. The removal of the hedge will allow the wall to be repointed and maintained.

There is many metres of the hedge to be removed and it is a welcome start.

The slate roof of the building beyond the other hedge is Forgan Hall, a former community hall built in the 50s.

The Hall has been converted into a family home to a design by a great firm of designers.
