Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 282

After the glorious warm day yesterday culminating in a brilliant sunset I was all set for a repeat performance today. Midmorning, the sun came out. Then it went away again! Today's haar is proving to be very persistent. I ran the length of the beach and enjoyed the stillness of the grey light and the distant views of Rowporty in training for the Scottish Coastal Rowing World Championships in Ulapool next month. The French bulk carrier, Maersk Sandra (150,000 tons) looms indistinctly off Gullane Point. The easterly breeze blows. The commercial air traffic consequently sequence into Turnhouse/EDI from the west - again.

This sign, in my blip, has appeared on the site of the new building work on the prom. I am impressed by this desire to communicate. The excavations have now reached sand level and it is a useful reminder of the fact that all the buildings along the shore line here in Portobello are actually built on sand!
