The Lido

I was not surprised that there were bikes outside the Lido today as its been such a wonderful day. Great Friday spent in Central park with year 6. We were all told today where we are going to be next year. I am staying with my current teacher which is great, really pleased.

The Lido first opened in 1936 and is one of the few survivors of its type still in use in the UK. It's a striking building (was a controversial pink for a while until painted this greeny colour) with elements of art deco design. It was originally created to tap into the huge boom in popularity of outdoor swimming complexes with the introduction of paid holidays.

I think I have only been a few times, its a bit too cold for me!
