Angry Ocean

The waves at Playa La Ropa are typically small and easily entered. It is one of the reasons we love living so close, you can head down and hop in the water anytime. Today, however, it is a different story altogether. The waves are huge (at least for our beach) and powerful. Instead of a nice wide strip of soft sand, the waves are rolling right up to, and in many instances past, the boundaries of the beachfront properties. All the beach restaurant have removed the chairs and umbrellas that normally line the sand, there is not a beach vendor to be seen, and no one is in the water past knee height. The waves are simply too wild. This chaotic view is looking north toward the rocks that mark the end of La Ropa. Usually tranquil and inviting, today it is a mass of churning water fit for nothing but admiration from afar. The scale is hard to visualize without a person for perspective, but the breaking waves are 2-3 meters tall, massive for our protected bay.
