Out and About

The Pennine Tower

Grade 2 listed concrete tower built in 1965 to look like an air traffic control tower. It used to house an up market  restaurant and sundeck,  with views to Morecambe Bay and the Trough of Bowland. It's in Lancaster (originally called Forton) motorway services, the second service  area to be built on the M6.  But, the tower was closed  to the public in 1989 because they couldn't  create a fire escape.
I'd been visiting Mr P in Lancaster Hospital where his heart rate is stable and they hope he can come home tomorrow. This local landmark is just a few miles down the A6 from the hospital and I thought made a more interesting Blip than the hospital shots I took.
