Windmill 'De Leeuw', Aalsmeer

'Leeuw' = 'lion'

Checked if it was/is the name of the (previous) owner, but it has nothing to do with any owner.  So maybe it's a reference to the lion in the royal coat of arms?  Or they just love lions, don't they.

Cloudy with a bit of a hopeful window, which I fortunately caught.  Noticeably busier on the motorways; the summer break is over for many and businesses and schools are open again, so, of course, some bearable and doable traffic.

Kitchen duties, some research, a growing amount of reading.  Also, a job opening some kilometres away.  In MNL, the Viking has various appointments with some government officials in the Dept of Justice (almost typed Debt of Justice), with the Taxman joining in.  I wonder if it will result in anything, but I trust he knows how to go about these things.  The last thing on my mind these days.

Built in 1863, De Leeuw was last renovated in 1995.  In the middle of town, as you can see, but no parking issues.  The first windmill in town was built in 1547, right where the current Town Hall is now situated.  Overcrowding motivated those involved to build a new one, this one, on its current spot.  Remarkable how the various windmills have been witnesses to so many things.  As for Aalsmeer, it is close to Schiphol Airport and is one of the busiest hubs in the flower industry, with various plant companies and auction centres thriving and delivering much needed local and national income.  De Leeuw is the third windmill I've done in Aalsmeer, the last one, so I was fortunate that it was doable this time.

Thankful for positivity.
