Traction engines!

I've had a day working in the house and garden.  F came for tea and when he arrived told me that traction engines were outside the village pub.

Luckily the meal was at a stage where I could leave it without spoiling and we went to have a look.  They have a run around every year and stop for a meal in the village.  Last year it was at the other pub.

The one on the right was made by William Foster & Co. of Lincoln and had a tank badge on the front.  Apparently they were an agricultural machinery company that made the prototypes for the first tanks (WW1) and the tank emblem appeared on all their machines (extra). There is information here.

There was also a steam lorry and old tractor and a road roller was on a trailor.

It was lovely to see them and smell the hot oil/steam coming from them. The meal was enjoyed too.
