Cairo Chevy

After the kidnapped Egyptian soldiers were released, the Rafah border crossing was reopened on Thursday. I booked flights to Ireland immediately, and headed to Cairo today.

The journey across the border and through the Sinai desert was relatively smooth, only taking 12 hours from door-to-door. My flight was at 4am, so I made my way to my friend Nivene's gorgeous new apartment and spent a few hours with her, her son Yaseen, and her sister Amira.

Nivene cooked me dinner and I took a shower (in cleeeeean water) so I felt nice and fresh as I headed for the airport at midnight, happy to be on my way home to my family at last.
