My day

Mailboxes

…and daffodils. I showed a mailbox yesterday that had been damaged and decided to show a few more letterboxes around the local streets. In Australia we mostly have one postal delivery each day but these days there are fewer letters sent. We are more likely to get a parcel here. Our houses are mostly set back from the road so the box is on the street to make it convenient for the postman (or lady).

This is an old part of town so the range isn’t very exciting. I should go to the newer estates and rural areas to show the difference. Our daughter doesn’t have any mail delivered so she has to go to the local post office which is in the shop at the service station. We also have a post office box which was convenient when we had a business and we keep it going. When I was doing rural nursing most of my clients had their address as care of the post office. It made finding them hard at first.

Today was Father’s Day here in Australia. We had visits from the local kids and grandchildren. Maddy and Leo helped us in the garden. Leo did mowing and Maddy helped me clear and clean the front porch. All the furniture was filthy after the winter and looked horrible. It was a perfect day, frosty (-2.5) up to about 18° and sunny.
