Now, as I see it......

The stage is set

A life-size poster of the late John Dankworth overlooks the stage at the start of the annual season of concerts held in his and Cleo Laine's garden at their home next to the Stables Theatre, Wavendon. The poster is there every year to replace the man himself who used to sit on stage to watch the acts although as Cleo later pointed out, she didn't know why they'd put him there as he always sat on the other side of the stage! Typical summer's weather - cold and windy, so I didn't see them selling much Pimms. Good first concert by the ever dependable Alan Barnes which was recorded for broadcast later on Radio 3, marred only by a total power failure part way through the first session!
