Web Tussle

We are at that time of year when the orb spiders and their webs become a real garden feature. It was a misty start to the day, which really showed up the dew dropped webs.

It turned into a warm and sunny day. Seats out in the back garden again, and as an interlude to reading the latest book club choice I went on a little safari around the garden. Fascinating watching the tussle between a large orb spider and the carder bee caught in her web. I thought the bee had no chance, especially when the spider embraced it in her eight legs. But no, it was having none of it, and with a lot of pulling and tugging managed to break free of the silky trap.
