Predator

Finally home after 17 hours travel. How do you get so tired doing nothing? The 90° heat on arrival was unbearable. At least I got back in time for a photo; it was still dark when I left and I really didn't want to post an aeroplane wing shot.

This was an unusual sight - a Cooper's Hawk - and perhaps an unwelcome one, given their food source is other birds. But sitting above him at the top of the willow were quite a few Goldfinch that didn't seem bothered by his presence.

I caught him mid flight between branches, but I wished for a clearer shot. Perhaps I can remove the twigs given a bit of time.
