Project Rebuild Jackson Studios / jazz picnic

A fantastic day out at The Chiltern Open Air Museum which has a stunning collection of historic buildings to explore in beautiful countryside, well worth a visit!

Here are John and Malcolm Jackson, sons of Jack Jackson
an English trumpeter and bandleader popular during the British dance band era who later became a highly influential radio disc jockey, next to them is John's daughter Sally Jackson Freeman, the brothers ran Jackson recording studios in the 80s where many punk and new wave artists recoded including Motorhead, Eddie and The Hotrods, 999 and Tom Robinson.

The Jackson Studios building from Maple Cross dates back to 1747, the building is currently in pieces, stored undercover at the Museum. In order to progress this project, they need the help of a specialist building heritage professional to assess the elements and create a plan to resurrect Jackson Studios.

Today was about raising awareness and money, John and Malcolm gave a great talk then we all had a wonderful picnic and John and his jazz band played as well as many other musicians, I sang some jazz with the band and did a club PA later, Sally's cousin Marc JB from Bimbo Jones DJd and played a great track to kick off his set sampling his Grandfather mixed with dance beats, brilliant! Listen Here!

A wonderful day! they are such a fabulous family, so blessed to know them all, let's hope the studio can be rebuilt sooner rather than later!

Gulliver and I had a lovely time looking around all the old buildings including a war time prefab complete with bomb shelter, a victorian school house and an iron age house, the weather was glorious, nothing beats a gorgeous English summer day.
Zebedee particularly liked dressing up as a pilot and wearing the gas mask ;-)
