A Meandering Life...

Campervan Renovations

Phase 2 complete!

Phase 1 was the stripping out of the old washroom and phase 2 was the laying down of the foundations of the new build, new walls, floor and gas box installation etc.

This phase finished today with the professionals fitting out the new gas pipes etc so that I can just pump LPG into the gas tank instead of taking it out and exchanging it at an outlet. The size bottle I use to need is no longer being produced and would normally cost about £50 to exchange. The new system is twice the size and cost me just £12 to fill today. The outlay of the new system could be regained after 10 refills. The bottle etc has a 10 year life span so in the long run will be much cheaper and easier to fill.

Phase 3 will be the final stage. Now the gas is in I can finish the plumbing for the sink, add lighting and do the final touches. I'll report back when its all done.

In extras you'll find the new attraction at a Leeming Bar truck stop. This ex-RAF Red Arrow flew as part of the display team for 30 years until it was retired in 2012. It then stood as a gate guardian outside RAF Scampton until the base was closed earlier this year. It now sits under the flight path of the training fighters coming out of RAF Leeming. The Blip map is showing where you can find it if you are passing.
