The end of the day

Hopefully another day of small steps of progress. Finally met with the social worker who is coordinating a care package for J when he comes home from hospital. I think we agreed what support is needed (and it’s a lot). I also explained my concerns as there’s no way I can go through the same situation as a few months ago again. She is now going to meet with J next week, and check what might be available that would meet J’s needs. Which obviously won’t really be a day centre full of old ladies in their 80s. This is yet another way that early onset dementia is so challenging.

There’s still going to be the challenge of getting J to accept support - he has limited capacity to understand what he really needs. But the plan is to go in with everything and then look to strip back what’s not needed (or not) rather than just trying the absolute minimum and having to increase it.

I then had a short visit to the hospital, and then a stroll after tea. After watering the garden, I then sat out with an icecream watching the wispy clouds change colour as the sun set. 3 jackdaws noisily photobombed the blip.
