One daze at a time...

It's a cruel, cruel summer

Bananarama may have been lacking slightly in the cool/edgy band name department but you have to give them their dues, they were capable of deep, insightful, thought provoking lyrics.
For it is indeed a cruel, cruel summer.

Unbearable, debilitating, suffocating, dreadful, sweltering, brutal, relentless are only a few of the words that I overheard at work today, whispered by civil servants hardly believing that working is actually legal when the temperature (in the shade!) is twenty eight degrees. Celsius!

What are the Health and Safety Authorities waiting for to call for a general shut down of the country?
They could take a leaf from the Department of Education's book, who are so prompt at closing all the schools when there are two millimetres of snow on the ground.

Concerned co-workers wondered if I'd be able to survive the cross-city cycle home in such searing heat.

They shouldn't have worried. There was the cooling promise of a dip at the Vico at the other end.

It looks like half the population of Sao Paulo (that happens to live in Dublin) had the same idea.
The Vico was full of music, and tanned young ones, and jokes in Portuguese, and laughter, and microkinis.

Bom Dia meus amigos
