Early morning at Kilnsey

We were helping on registration at our Club's orienteering event at Coniston Dib and Pie (wonderful name!) and this is my one and only blip taken as we parked up and headed over to our dedicated tent for the next few hours.  It was very pleasant to sit chatting to Club friends as they came and went, enjoying the views of Kilnsey Crag and the Dale.  Tony ran early and then relieved me to run.  The start was 750m away up the Dib which is a narrow dry limestone valley.   Tony tells me it was formerly a glacial meltwater drainage channel.  The start was based halfway up the valley and the planner then took our course and several others, straight up the steep fellside to our first controls.  Tough going but once on the top of the fell the views were wide and smashing, which is my excuse for going off my line to number 2!

Back in the assembly field registration was over so we tarried awhile chatting to folks and then took the tent down, said our goodbyes and drove home where we've sat out in the garden with our cuppas, enjoying the brass band music drifting up from the Horticultural Show down in the village and  comparing courses until the mini thunderstorm and accompanying rain came through.  It's muggy again now.

Onion Bhaji Update:  Neighbour Mick took the victor's crown once again and Neighbour Pete came in second.  He now has a year to adjust his recipe!
