Mr Flum began cutting the hedge, starting at the far end. Shortly afterwards he came in, to say that there was a crop of elderberries, should he pick them (in other words, could I use them or am I too busy).

Naturally, we couldn't waste such bounty, especially from our own garden so the berries were duly picked and stripped from the stalks, with a yield of 1125g.

The most interesting thing is that, although we know there are elders in the privet hedge, we have not been aware of flowers, so have never looked for fruit.
