Holyrood Palace

We stood among others on Hillhouse Road, near the junction with Telford Road, to watch the cortège carrying the coffin of Queen Elizabeth on her way to the Palace of Holyroodhouse from her home in Balmoral Castle.

Police presence was very high, we counted nearly 60 manœuvres of their various vehicles in preparation for the cortège, which passed us with steady dignity; I had a clear view, and of the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence in the following car, escorting the hearse. There was a general air of quiet sadness in the crowd, as though, as one, we felt the loss deeply.

I forebore taking photos, preferring to watch in silence, so my blip is from another source, as it arrived at the palace.
