Reception

Belvedere Hotel, West Wemyss, Fife

This building was built in 1927 and used as a Miners' Welfare Institute until 1952 (aka Colliery Institute).
Purchased by the Wemyss Development Company in 1978.
From then the Institute and the adjacent Coxstool houses were converted to the Belvedere Hotel, opening to guests in 1986.
It changed hands in 2006 but declining fortunes led to it closing in 2009.
Although put on the market, it failed to attract a buyer and remains empty to this day.
It is a Category B listed building and is on the 'Buildings at risk' register.

Here is a link to its appearance shortly after it closed.  The windows and doors are all boarded up but painted to look like the original paned windows and doors.

For my blip, I have taken the current state of the main entrance and overlaid it with peeling paint from elsewhere on the building's exterior.
