What I've Done

Back home - back on the hills

A lovely, calm day, and a great opportunity for me to continue with my Wainwright Challenge. Our intention was to do Mellbreak and Hen Combe, but incoming cloud (and associated weather) made us stop at Mellbreak. The rain that came in whilst we were driving home was pretty heavy, so we were pleased we cut the walk short.

Unfortunately we'd left the washing on the line, so it was all soaking. The airing cupboard is now so full!

Mellbreak is only 1600 feet high, but the ascent at the northern end is a steep scree / gravel slope with almost no grip - certainly one of the most difficult fells, and much more technical than anything we did last week. The view from near the top of the slope down Crummock water is fabulous though, and well worth the effort.
