A time for everything

Current read

Tuesday 12 September
It was an early start this morning, as Roger had to be at the Eye Institute for 7 am. His surgery was scheduled for 8 am, but it slipped a bit. While I was waiting, I was able to read some of my current read, The Reading List, a debut novel by Sara Nisha Adams, born in Hertfordshire to Indian and English parents, and currently living in London. I’m thoroughly enjoying this encouraging and heartwarming story about how a chance encounter with a list of books helps forge an unlikely friendship between a lonely widowed elderly Indian man, and a bright but anxious teenager, living with a difficult home situation. It’s very readable and illustrates the value and importance of books and libraries. My blip was actually taken later in the day at home. The surgery went well, and Roger had to agree much better than all his recent bad dreams! The surgeon seemed pleased with his work, and Roger sees him again tomorrow morning. He has quite a large eye patch to be worn until then. The surgeon warned him he had injected a large gas bubble in his eye, to keep things in place, so not to expect to see much if anything when the eye patch comes off tomorrow morning. We now begin quite a complex schedule of eye drops, 1 to be administered every two hours, one every four hours, and one twice a day. Fortunately they have different coloured tops to help you distinguish!
Understandably , we had a quiet rest of the day
