A Matter of Life and Death

That sounds a bit dramatic! I was watering in my courtyard this morning and noticed that the Sarracenias (Pitcher Plants) were attracting a lot of flying insects. They're attracted to the nectar on the lid of the plant (that flap that covers the tube). The nectar drugs the insect and eventually it will start exploring the nectar below the lid and will fall into the tube and become food for the plant - that's sort of a generalized explanation but you get the gist. Saturday fun!

A visit to a friend's open house midday - she's got a lovely new kitchen. And tonight a party to celebrate the wedding of my lovey 82 year old friend!
