A good night's sleep was had by me and my new roommate, Australian Faye, and this morning we all gathered in the bar at 8.50 for the day's briefing.

It was a very enjoyable day's walking with a lot of chatting to most of our group of 14, they seem a nice bunch.

The weather had been forecast wet in parts but after the first ten minutes it was dry all day, although thankfully not too hot.

Towards the end of the day we called at a smallholding just 2 kilometres from our hotel. It was the family finca of our guide Louis and he had everything ready for a rest stop for us - plates of homegrown tomatoes, physalis and raspberries and bottles of home brewed cider, the drink the area is famous for. Then his parents arrived to greet us and his father ceremoniously poured us all an inch or two of cider from a height to aerate it. It was quite tart and I'm glad there wasn't more as it went straight to my head! I wasn't the only one and we hastily drank more water!

Extra: Louis gathering wild mushrooms at the lunch stop, destined for the hotel.
