a lifetime burning

Riding out the storm

The ladybird had found a dry spot from which to ride out today's gale.

To take the shot I had to hold the plant stem with one hand while holding the camera with the other, resting the macro lens on the forearm of the hand holding the plant stem to try to keep everything still and the ladybird in focus.  I was about to give up when I finally managed to got an acceptable shot.  (The insect was actually on the underside of the stem, but I've rotated the image.)

The lavender almost looks as though it has been knitted.
