Castles

The forecast today was not good, with heavy rain expected.  We opted to drive down to Castell Coch, somewhere that I only knew about from the brass band march, but we thought it would have some indoor stuff.  We had a good look round, dodging the heavier showers, and had a lovely toasted panini for lunch.

From there it was a bit early to come back, so we went across to Caerphilly and had a walk out to a viewpoint after having a cup of tea.  We had a good chat to a local about the tree project that was measured this week and then drove down into the town for a walk around the outside of the castle.  This castle is the largest in Wales, but it was a bit late to spend some money and go inside.

The drive back took in some great views and there was a really vivid rainbow which was often rooted to the ground right where there were wind turbines!

We stopped at a disappointing co-op to find some dinner, then stopped for a final view over one of the valleys before heading back to eat.
