If you can't beat them...

Colwich Lock repair.

I use this shot not because of any photographic value but purely as a record of the lock repair.   Those angle irons are 6mm (0.235") iron.  They are held in place by nineteen 25mm (1") stainless steel bolts.

When we woke up we were delighted to see the other boats in the queue had already departed.  So off we went down three more locks to Fradely junction.  As we didn't have Kanyl with us we decided to change our route and wait until he was with us for our planned route..  So we took a right turn and headed for the Coventry Canal.  We were a little later than we would have been mainly because of the canal side vegetation.  The removal of £30,000,000 a year funding from the canal and River Trust by our wonderful government  doesn't help.
