Busy quayside, Bordeaux

On our second day in Bordeaux, we went on a boat trip.
The centre of Bordeaux was once subjected to ruthless urban redevelopment, and the warren of medieval slums was replaced by elegant 18th century streets and squares, reminiscent, to me, of Bath (but for trade, not a spa!). In this photo, the house on the extreme left and the twin church towers are remnants of the middle ages, the other houses are "new".
The quays were once busily devoted to shipping business; when this moved downstream to accommodate containers, the quays were redeveloped for leisure activities!
