Europe by van Day 23

We called to see how van was progressing and were asked to go back at 11 to make the payment as that was when Anna, the English speaker, was going to be there. It was quite complicated doing the international money transfer so took a while on phones, passwords etc. We also asked her to phone the hut owner to say we wanted to pay. A young women arrived and we used our phones and google translate. Turns out we were in the wrong hut but she charged €90 anyway.

At the appointed time we picked up the van. They’d even wallpapered the bit of roof inside. I can’t imagine we’d have had the same service and timescale at home. My cousin Duncan waited months and it cost over 4 times as much in UK.

We decided to come back to the campsite to get electricity and sort out the van. Mr C has cleaned up the solar panel on the roof so we hope to set off tomorrow out of the gulag. It’s a pretty dead village - one shop and a few streets. We are so grateful though that people with the skills were here where we came by chance as it was the nearest site from Serbia.

Tomorrow we’ll head west and see where we get to. Slovenia the day after that we hope. Thank you all for your kind words and support. It has really helped.

This is the van getting last repairs at Bilje Marine.
