Genocide

"One Million Bones" is a social arts installation, put into place this weekend in front of the US Capitol building to raise awareness of ongoing genocide and mass atrocities.

It literally consists of one million artwork bones, created since 2010 by students, educators, artists and activists as a powerful demonstration against mass conflict. Over 100,000 people from all 50 states and more than 30 countries participated in that project, sharing stories, advocating and celebrating hope and shared humanity.

It's one of the more unusual installations I've seen in Washington in my 32 years here...
