Stockholm Arlanda

The barriers for queues at the airport in Stockholm, which caught my eye. Then, on closer inspection, I realised they were made up of airplane shapes.

So we took the express train direct to the airport and got there exactly when the airline recommended. Found our way to bag drop, and it was like the old days - a long queue of people waiting to drop off their suitcases. It might not have taken a half hour but it certainly felt like it. Went through Security quickly, then a brief pause to fill our water bottles before our flight was requested to go to passport control. Then maybe five minutes before the plane boarded.
Uneventful flight. Immigration in the UK was fully automated, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. For many years I’ve had to show two passports (an old one and the current one) at the border. But the new system accepted the current passport with no quibbles. And the new system was also very quick. A half hour waiting for the bags to show up, then finding the BIL for a lift. We’re both totally knackered now, need a holiday from the trip!
