Aeolian experience

Well I didn’t take Bonnie to the market after all this morning, as Rob was feeling rather tired and we just felt it would be too much to cope with.
Instead, in the afternoon, we took Bonnie to the Cumbria Wildlife Trust Bowberhead reserve to experience the Aeolian installation.
It was certainly windy enough! There’s a harp near the entrance which has a delightful other worldly sound, quite quiet. The main installation is on top of a glacial drumlin and very exposed to the wind which I suppose is necessary. We were hit by a squall and there was nowhere to hide! When it passed we walked right into the middle of each group, and there was a variety of different types of sound. The most remarkable was a sort of timpanum which vibrated according to how strong the wind was blowing, making a deep reverberating sound like a didgeridoo!
Didn’t seem to bother Bonnie, who was more interested in the cow dung!
