Current reading

I love the summer when I have a bit more free time to explore other literature and writing besides my academic usual fare. Found this book at a little local bookshop - a great choice and known as a canon on the subject. I've wanted to find this book for a while because on my maternal grandmother's side, this is very much the story of my family who emigrated to NC first in the 1680s and then 1720s and 30s, and also a bit after that. My family has lived on the same piece of land, albeit now much reduced in size, since 1730s. It's exciting to finally get to read more about what their journey and life here in NC might have been like.
