Summer in October

Today was a beautiful summer's day - in the second week of October!  We made good use of the glorious weather by visiting the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) gardens at Hyde Hall in Essex.

The gardens were not what I had expected.  I am sure than when we have visited RHS gardens before, they consisted of many areas of well ordered and carefully arranged flower beds, with different kinds of flowers in different areas of the garden.  There was a little of that here, but much of the extensive grounds were natural, rolling countryside with lakes, wooded areas and open grassland.  I found it very attractive.  It certainly looked good under the "summer" sun.
