Life through the lens...

A day in the Dales.

After our usual Thursday morning visit o the fish van, we set off for the Yorkshire Dales. Making the most of a glorious day.
However it was a cold morning and the first time since last winter that the snowflake showed up on the dashboard. Temperature 4C.

We drive to Stainforth, just above Settle, to walk to Stainforth Force on the River Ribble.
Although they were spectacular we didn’t see any salmon jumping, which is what I had hoped for. A lady I spoke to said she had seen one at 9.30am, but none since. Unfortunately that one didn’t make it.

We had a walk along the river and sat a while just watching the water sparkling in the sunshine and enjoying the peace and quiet. Just beautiful.

Then it was on to Clapham for lunch at the Saw Mill Cafe. There was also a lot of water cascading down the waterfall into the beck.
By this time it was 14C and felt very warm in the sunshine.
As we sat waiting for the Glencroft shop to open a herd of sheep suddenly charged over the bridge and up through the village on their way onto the fells.
I just managed to get my camera out and got a back view just before as they disappeared at the end of the village.
This was such an unexpected treat that it had to be my blip for today.

The other photos I have made into a collage and added as an extra.
Top two Stainforth, the other four Clapham.

On the way home we called at our favourite cheese shop, The Courtyard Dairy, near Settle.
After tasting several cheeses we purchased 4 along with some Charcuterie. Then went to the wine shop and bought some wine to go with them.

We certainly made the most of a glorious day.
Something we are privileged to be able to do in retirement.
