Blood and Gore.

Another beautiful Miami day. Mutilated corpses with a chance of afternoon showers. I got dressed and went to work.

-- Jeff Lindsay, Darkly Dreaming Dexter

At the moment we have a stunning production at the theatre, Let the Right One In, which is a stage adaptation of the Swedish novel and film by the National Theatre of Scotland. At its heart, it is a story about a lonely boy who falls in love with a girl who turns out to be a vampire. It is beautiful and bloody in equal measure.

This week we have two brilliant 17 year olds on Work Experience placements with us. Our programme works on a carousel system so that over the course of four or five days, young people get to work across all the various departments of the theatre. This afternoon they were with our Scenic Artist, Leila, who had organised a fantastically messy session where they got to paint severed limbs, complete with injuries, blood and gangrene!

Tomorrow I have organised for them to work with Stage Management, Sound and Lighting, as well as observing Acting and Performance as part of the afternoon matinee. I think it's safe to say that they are having a great time!

It's like Dexter's come to Dundee. Blood and horror every which way you turn.

Feeling brave? See close up!
