Wet, wild, windy throwback Sunday

My day has been very full, with little time to contact Jon and the boys. I left Hoddesdon with my car loaded up, and headed for first stop Melbourn where we were meeting the rest of Jon's family to celebrate his mum's birthday.

Had a lovely day catching up with everyone and there was lots of food to enjoy. Daniel, Mollie and Henry had made pizzas including a sweet one, with chocolate spread topping, strawberries and marshmallows, so I didn't need to think about it.

While there, I showed John and Win the photos of the NC500 so far. They had no idea that's where Jon was! Then I had a chat with Jon. Tired, cold and wet is I think how he feels today! They had no trouble starting the van, but weather has been appalling. Very wet and still windy. So they made their way along the coast to a place where they planned to take a walk. With the ground uneven, and small fast running streams to cross, they did well to cover as much ground as they did. Jon had two walking poles with him, and persuaded Andy to try them as an aid to the walk. Andy is not a fan traditionally. From the short videos expertly filmed and posted (they were the right way up) by Martin, it looked like they made the walk easier and he was managing unaided. But it was very wet, and cold so they were glad to get back to the van to warm up and dry off after an hour or so.

On their drive to tonight's campsite, they saw red deer although in the photos Jon sent, they were just small dots. So I decided to look for pictures of them all from their last boys holiday together in 1985....and found these few.

38 years passed and there really isn't a lot of difference....is there?!
