Day 162 of 365 -St John the Baptist, Berkswell!

Welcome to day 162 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)

The original photo was taken this morning in the village of Berkswell. The image is of the parish Church of St John the Baptist. The current Church was built in the 12th Century and is of a Norman design. This church is built on the site of an earlier Saxon church. Part of the crypt beneath the Church dates back to the 8th Century. One of the other features of the church is the gabled and timbered porch that was added in the 16th Century. The porch was originally the first school room in the village. I am hoping to go back in a day or two to see and photograph the crypt of this church. On a lighter note, this Church was featured on TV last week (5th June) as part of an ITV Comedy/Drama series called 'Love And Marriage'. This series is based in and filmed around the Coventry area.

The Church is classed as Grade I listed in Berkswell, Solihull. The Churchyard Cross in front of the church is classed as a scheduled monument.

As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App PureShot for iPhone. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.

First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. The edits were made by straightening the photo, then cloning away the part of two cars from the side of the Church. I also deleted the telephone cable from the top of the image. I then used an app called Mextures to apply some lighting and textures to the image. This time I used a built in Preset called Saturated Purple provided by Neal Dieker. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Broken Texture.
