Art and treat

Took longer to sort ourselves out this morning but headed down for a day in town since it was slightly cloudier than the weekend and so we weren’t going to strike out for another big walk.
Started in the newly opened Scottish Art galleries. Very nicely done, and good to see the way they’d been chosen and curated in groups. Lots that I loved, plus the ubiquitous huge 19th century landscapes of wild dark mountains that I can’t bring myself to enjoy! The Traquair panels were particularly beautiful….really must go to the Traquair centre to see more one day but I never seem to hit on a day when they’re open.
After the obligatory visit to see the Velasquez woman cooking eggs and the da Vinci yardwinder we left the gallery and had a wander along Queen St, trying perfume in Le Labo and browsing Anthropologie before heading to the Portrait Gallery. Enjoyed visiting each gallery and choosing which artist we’d rather be painted by!
Finally over to The Ivy to (rather late) use up a voucher I had for champagne afternoon tea for two. It was Alice in Wonderland themed and had liquid nitrogen adding smoke to the magic…..all very delicious!
Once we were almost full to bursting point we staggered home up the hill where A had just arrived after her Uni afternoon. Quick chat then I dropped her at her car and we stayed slumped on the sofa all evening…..feeling full almost til bedtime!
