A time for everything

Out with the old … in with the new!

Tuesday 10 October
I’ve fallen behind again, partly due to technical issues!
Roger had an appointment this morning, but then we went downtown to our usual Tuesday Music Live at Lunch at Christ Church Cathedral - a quartet playing Bluegrass style music today. Then it was on to the big event of the day, picking up our new car, a Tesla model Y to replace Roger’s 16 year old Honda Accord. R had checked out online what he could expect for the Honda, and in comparison and for convenience felt that Tesla were offering a fair price for trade-in, which surprised us. So we drove the Honda there and returned with the Tesla. It’s a decision we’ve been mulling over for some time. One of R’s friends has had a Tesla 3 for several years, and has recently traded up to a model Y, and we had tried that out a few years ago and had been very impressed. We later had other test drives at an electric car event, where we also tried the VW and the Kia, but felt they didn’t compare, and finally a test drive at the Tesla distribution centre. Then, to get a more long term impression, we also rented one for a couple of weeks when we were in England, but decided England wasn’t as well set up for electric cars yet. Roger’s friend P had offered to meet us at the pick up, to help check it over, and give us any hints he could. Unfortunately the pick up didn’t go quite as planned. We had checked it over, signed the paper work, and P had left, and after pairing our iPhones to the car, we set off home. We hadn’t gone vey far, and an error message came up. Then it went out, so we continued, but then it returned, so we thought we should turn back. They checked it over, and ultimately it appears it was an electrical fault with the drivers seat. So about 90 minutes later (!) we were on our way again, with a new drivers seat installed. We were amazed they had another driver’s seat in the right colour in stock! After that, all was well
