Kingsteps

About two weeks ago my daily routines took a major hit when our local newsagent was closed to be reopened shortly as a pharmacy which may possibly sell newspapers although I doubt it. There is another which I've been using but it's a little too far to walk before breakfast (breakfast without a paper is unthinkable) so I've been driving and very much missing the old routine. So today went to Kingsteps east of Nairn. Quite a nice walk from the car park once you drive past all the holiday homes. The picture is looking east and on the left are shrub-covered dunes beyond which, out of sight, is a wonderful sand beach and the Moray Firth; to the right the Culbin Forest, and centre a wet grass/sedge land. Notices say the sedgeland is fragile and not to walk on it but keep to the paths. It's actually very wet and I imagine few people would be tempted for fear of being sucked under. A pity though that they haven't built a path so you could get nearer to the ponds. A wonderful area with road access only to the periphery.
