A day in the life

Teaching and learning

One of my students, a man in my own age came this morning to play and learn new things. Today he wanted to learn about basic blues playing on the guitar. As always, we get into other details in music and playing, like which chords are in a key and how do you play a pentatonic (five notes) scale in a certain key. We have fun and I always learn new things in how to transfer knowledge and information in the best way.

When he left it was time for lunch and then for me to transcribe and learn John Lennons amazing song "Julia", about his mother and Yoko. It's such a beautiful melody, full of unexpected turns and directions. It's also a real challenge to play and sing and a very good strength-practice for the left hand.
Now, time for a fire.
