Life Savors

Killary Fjord

...which is the only Fjord in Ireland.  As you can see the weather forecast wasn't great so we decided to take a day trip out of Galway to the town of Cong to visit the Cong Abbey.  The weather was kind to us there and we were able to take a fabulous hike through the Cong Woods.  I had hoped to get a reservation at Ashford Castle's School of Falconry but heard about it too late to get a reservation so will have to save that for next time.

We then headed to Leenaun to the Connemara Sheep and Wool Center.  We had missed the demonstration in Avoca (Ballykissangel) because the weaver was sick so we were glad for this opportunity.

Then it was back to Galway and dinner at a French Restaurant.  When we arrived in Galway yesterday, we explored the town well into the evening. We  stopped into St. Nicholas church, just as the chorus was practicing for an evening show and we stood in the doorway and listened as they sang Oh Danny Boy.  Doesn't get any better than that.

I have included a few extras:  a swan at Cong Abbey, Galway-Mayo County Lines (with football colors), and a couple of signs that should make you smile.
