Sgwarnog: In the Field

I took a day off to spend with 15yo as it is half-term. It had been a while since we’d been to the cinema so we headed into town to see The Creator.

I hadn’t seen anything about the film, but had enjoyed earlier works from the director, Gareth Edwards, and 15yo picked it out from those listed. Visually and in terms of world building it is very good. The story relates mainly to near-future AI wars, but not in a Terminator 2 way. It was worth seeing.

We went to check on the progress of the new building (centre) in City Park, One City Park, and found it was nearly complete. This is on the site of the former police station that used to provide me with reflective images in the early years of this journal. It is a fairly mundane office block but does seem to fit well in the void between the court house, Alhambra and Odeon. This blip from 18 months ago captures the void before building started.  We also noticed that the exterior brick work the Odeon has been cleaned and repaired as part of it being brought back to life as a major live music venue.
