Classic View

Up at 3:30, easy journey to the airport , flight took off on time at 6:45. We had a whole row each to ourselves (we always book an aisle seat) so enjoyed a window seat for the view coming over to Venice over the alps and seeing the lagoon just before touch down, half an hour early! A breeze through the airport , no long lines for the Brexit UK for a change.

Bus from airport into Venice, stop quite close to Grand Canal. What an introduction to the City with the bustle of all the boats .

We are staying in a hotel for three night on the Island of La Giudecca (think that’s the spelling) which looks over to St Marks. We get the water buses (vaporetto) over the water and a short walk is our hotel which has o my been opened for two months!

We covered a good bit for having only 4 hours sleep the night before. Lots of walking and also in visiting a beautiful old staircase and house called the Scala Contarini del Bovolo and also San Maurizio church which was full of old violins and other wooden musical instruments - kinda dedicated to Vivaldi and they have concerts periodically.

Venice is beautiful - life on the water is great to watch and it’s not smelly!

Sleeping by 9.
