Battered But Unbowed

This battered red admiral butterfly was braving the wasps on a windfall apple this afternoon.

PS For my own information, the great spotted woodpecker was working on its bolt hole today. I tried unsuccessfully to get a shot but have established that it's definitely a GSW.
