Ilex aquifolium

Holly's glossy spiked leaves make a show
With its bright scarlet berries that glow
In jolly red clusters,
All of which musters
A Christmassy image -- ho ho!

Sorry, blipmates! I know we've not even had Halloween yet, but these berries had to be blipped. And it also represents today's gardening exploits. It was great to have J helping us in the garden, and she claimed her reward as we dug up a small holly (without berries!) that was growing in the wrong place, and potted it up for her to take home. There she has the perfect place for it.

We also did some pruning and cutting up of earlier lopped branches so that they can be recycled. And I'm so pleased that I managed to remove a huge sedge grass that was driving me mad. My new root-cutting spade unearthed it sufficiently that, by both pulling at once, my sister and I were able to haul it out of the ground. Phew!

Meanwhile, despite the squelchiness of the ground, Mr PP managed to cut the grass that would have been a nightmare if it had grown any longer. Phew, again (especially as it's green bin collection day tomorrow)!

He also cooked us a fabulous Sunday lunch and now we are all waiting for bedtime, we're so tired. We did remember to put the clocks back so no wonder it feels later than it is. Good to be back in time with the sun though. Just wish we could keep Greenwich Mean Time all year round.
